HQ folks LOVE to have remotes visit New York! Usually this happens for 1 of 2 reasons:
If you'd like to come visit us, that's awesome! In the case of your 1st trip (per year), Glitch will cover the cost of your flights and one week's stay at a hotel. If you'd like to come to the office just for fun for a 2nd time, we will pay for your flights. 3rd, 4th, 5th times and onward: you're on your own!
As you are coming to New York in this situation for fun, we won't reimburse your meals. However you are of course invited to partake in everything at the office (breakfast, snacks, lunch, what have you).
If we asked you to come to the office - usually because a new employee is joining your team or for a meet up - we will cover your travel expenses (airfare, train, taxi, subways, etc) to and from NY, to and from HQ, and we will arrange for lodging.
As you are coming to New York in this situation for work, we're assuming you'll have breakfast and lunch at the office (the expense of which we cover). You can expense up to $45/night for dinner for up to 5 nights.
In this situation, your team lead should ping Jordan for the OK before you start making plans.
In both cases, we'll set you up with a work station with a monitor and Aeron chair. Please bring your work laptop with you and let Sean and Jess know you'll be in the office ahead of time. We'll need to make sure you have a guest login for lunch.
We're more than happy to have your family join you on your trip to HQ- after all New York is pretty exciting and there's plenty to do. All we ask is that you don't get distracted from the purpose of your HQ visit, whether training a new employee or team meet up. Part of the reason we bring our employees to HQ is to get some face time, so it’s important we make the most of it when we’re together. You're welcome to bring the family to hangout time- we'd love to get to know them too!
As you probably expect, your family's costs associated with the trip (transportation, meals, activities, etc) will be your responsibility. They're welcome to stay with you in whatever lodging situation Glitch arranges.
