Slite's editorial style guidelines
- Concise: simple and short sentences
- Informal: friendly and emoji filled
- Witty: subtle humor, straightforward and informative
- Confident: no bragging but assertive
- American English 🇺🇸 ( vs. British English )
- Contractions are 👍 (don't vs. do not)
- Active voice—avoid passive voice at all costs!
- No space between punctuation and words (Slite's the best! vs. Slite's the best !)
- All titles: capitalize only first letter (ie. Slite is the note app for teams vs. Slite is the Note App for Teams)
- All headlines: never punctuate
- Job names and titles:
- Capitalize department names but never the word "teams" (ie. Marketing team vs. Marketing Team)
- Capitalize title name only if it's in singular (ie. Marketing Manager, Marketing managers)
- Sign in/Sign out: when member first joins Slite (versus
log in/log out) - Sign in to (versus
Sign into/Log into) - Workspace (versus
organization/team) - ie. Workspace settings, Your workspace pricing plan, etc
- Members (versus
teammates/team members) - ie. Invite members
- Manage channels, members, rights etc
- Member rights/permissions
- Note title (versus
Note name) - Active users: members that are active (for billing)
- Standard and Free plans (versus
Monthly and Yearly plans) - Billed monthly/Billed yearly
- Shared notes (versus
team notes) - Pinged on a note (versus
Pinged in) - Mentioned in a note/comment/etc (versus
Mentioned on)
- Don't punctuate headlines/titles of sections
- Capitalize only first letters of headlines/titles of sections (All notes versus All Notes)
- Always punctuate explanatory text—if it's a sentence, it needs a period 👇
- Always capitalize Standard and Free plans
- Be friendly but straightforward
- Use gifs and images to show the new items
- Emojis!
- Twitter : Product news, brand marketing, media mentions, content, hiring posts
- Facebook : Product news, brand marketing, media mentions, content, hiring posts
- LinkedIn : Product news, hiring posts, media mentions, content
